Medicare deadline extended for physicians to change their Medicare participation status. Now March 17, 2010
CMS has extended the deadline for physicians to change their Medicare participation or non-participation status in 2010 to March 17, 2010. Physicians who want to continue their current status do not need to do anything to maintain their status. Those who wish to switch their status need to notify their contractor through a written communication that is received or post-marked on or before March 17, 2010. FTC "Red Flag Rule" delayed until June 1, 2010
Once again, the FTC has delayed implementation of the "Red Flag Rule" that includes physicians under the definition of a creditor. Under the rule, physicians are required to develop and implement written identity theft prevention programs.
