Robert Butler, DO died on March 7th at age 91. Dr. Butler was a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1951 and moved to Eugene in 1953, working in osteopathic hospitals in both Eugene and Albany. In 1958 Dr. Butler relocated to Portland where he helped develop the department of anesthesia. This included active involvement in the construction of the osteopathic hospital, where he was instrumental in developing the plumbing for the oxygen and nitrous oxide systems of the hospital.
Dr. Butler stayed involved in osteopathic education throughout his long career. During his years as an anesthesiologist, he provided training to countless medical students and residents. Dr. Butler was known for his calm demeanor and integrity.
