This Learning Session will kick off the Oregon Collaborative on Communication and Resolution Programs (OCCRP) Cohort Two. The focus will be on the foundations of a peer support program for care providers.

Consistent and proactive peer support programs are useful after any event that hits care providers hard, from an unexpected patient harm event to the death of a beloved patient/resident or colleague, to the aftermath of a natural disaster or other traumatic event in the local community. Peer support has been shown to relieve care provider stress and anxiety, increase care provider work satisfaction and retention rates, improve employee morale, and help care providers communicate more effectively with patients and families.
